Healthy teeth habits for the kids

Developing a good habit for healthy life can be started as early as possible.
This is also specifically applicable for teeth. Humans have two sets of teeth: the first, of 20, called milk teeth, starts to fall at 6; the second, of 32, replaces the first and permanent.

The first set of teeth is already almost completely formed at birth even though hidden under the gums. The milk teeth are important to allow your baby chew food, express a nice grin and talk well. You baby's milk teeth also reserves the space where permanent teeth will grow.

Our teeth decay more easily during the first 25 years of life. Mature enamel is more resistant to
attack. Thus it is essential to build a good habit formaintaining healthy teeth early on. Here are some tips for caring your baby teeth against caries or gingivitis later in their life:
  • Clean your baby's newly formed teeth every day. You can use a clean wet
washcloth to clean the teeth. Children's toothbrush can be used when the teeth
    are bigger.

  • Do not use toothpaste for children under 2 years of age. You may instead
use water to brush your child's teeth.

  • Prevent your baby from having
    baby-bottle tooth decay,
cavities caused juice or milk left on
the teeth when they go to sleep with a bottle.

  • Do not give your children chewy and sugar-rich candies. Instead encourage
them to eat low-sugar foods, such as cheese, fruits and veggies

  • Encourage and teach your children to clean their teeth regularly including
    the correct brushing technique

  • Take your children to the dentist regularly starting 1 year of age
